The President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Jean-Claude Mignon will meet with Transnistrian leader Yevgeny Shevchuk in Tiraspol on September 19. The Transnistrian administration confirmed that it is available for discussions, IPN reports.
“Our goal is to stimulate the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol. We want the population from the left bank of the Nistru River to also benefit from the Association Agreement with the European Union. I am fully confident that the OSCE will complete the negotiations in the 5+2 format,” Jean-Claude Mignon said in a news conference given in Chisinau in the evening of September 18.
In another development, the PACE President underlined that by the embargo imposed on the imports of Moldovan wine, the Russian state deprives its citizens of a good product. He added that Russia’s decision is regrettable.
PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon is paying a working visit to Moldova on September 17-19. This is his third visit to Moldova.
