Pace of implementing Association Agreement with EU must be hastened, IPRE

The national program for putting into practice the Moldova – EU Association Agreement was only 29% implemented by July 1. The implementation level during the last quarter was of 46.7% of the planned measures, established analysts of the Institute for European Politics and Reforms (IPRE). According to them, the implementation pace must be hastened during the next six months, IPN reports.

IPRE executive director Iulian Groza said that if the implementation pace is kept at 10% quarterly on average, the commitments would be about 50-55% fulfilled towards this yearend. The Government and Parliament will have to improve their work. The agreement with the IMF is probably the main reference point for restoring the relations with the EU.

The study authors ascertained that the authorities are yet to implement about 70% of the measures of the national program for putting into practice the Moldova – EU Association Agreement. The Government’s work should be aimed at achieving three major objectives: promotion of the fulfillment of the remaining measures; negotiation of the future Association Agenda (2017-2019) and working out of a new national program for 2017.
