The unilateral actions of the Transnistrian authorities lead to the obstructing of the activities of the constitutional bodies of Moldova and to the degradation of the process of settling the frozen conflict, says a statement signed by members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of European (PACE) on the initiative of MP Ana Gutu, who heads the Moldovan Parliament’s commission on foreign policy and European integration.
According to a communiqué from the legislative body, the situation in Transnistria was presented by Ana Gutu in the summer session of the PACE in Strasbourg. The lawmaker said that the Transnistrian region turned into a territory of increased tensions owing to the unilateral actions taken by the secessionist authorities. Tiraspol adopted a so-called legal act on Transnistria’s border that delimits the border of the separatist region by including settlements located on the right bank of the Nistru.
According to Ana Gutu, the provocations launched by the Transnistrian authorities lead to the blocking of the work of the Joint Control Commission and the multinational teams of military experts.
The Moldovan Parliament’s delegation is taking part in the summer session of the PACE that is held in Strasbourg on June 24-28. It includes MPs Liliana Palihovici, Ana Gutu, Stella Jantuan, Valeriu Ghiletschi, and Grigore Petrenco.
