The co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will be in Moldova during February 4-7 for a fact-finding visit. Among the topics covered are the political situation, electoral and judicial reform, parliamentary control and the fight against corruption.
The co-rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Commission have meetings scheduled with the leadership of Moldova, including President Maia Sandu, Speaker Igor Grosu, and Prime Minister Dorin Recean. Also, the agenda includes discussions with the presidents of the parliamentary groups and with the members of the legislative delegation to APCE, according to a press release of the Parliament.
The PACE officials will also have discussions with the leadership of the Ministry of Justice, as well as with the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Oleg Serebrian, and with the Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihail Popșoi.
The agenda of the visit also includes meetings with members of the Superior Council of Magistracy, the Superior Council of Prosecutors, the leadership of the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Supreme Court of Justice, the National Integrity Authority and the Central Electoral Commission.
The co-reporters will also go to Comrat, where they will talk with the speaker of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, Dmitri Konstantinov, and with members of the Assembly’s groups, as well as with local civil society representatives.
The delegation will include the co-rapporteurs monitoring Moldova’s commitments, Pierre-Alain Fridez, Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica and Bas Klein.
