PACE co-rapporteur in meeting with PM: We see cooperation only from positive perspective

The co-rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for Moldova Ögmundur Jonasson, in a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip, said he sees the cooperation with Moldova only from a positive perspective. The Premier welcomed the visit by the PACE co-rapporteurs to Moldova, saying this is designed to contribute to compiling the next country report, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, Pavel Filip spoke about the actions taken to stimulate the justice sector reform, to create favorable conditions for developing the business and investment climate, to reform the public administration and to develop the dialogue with civil society. He noted that among the important objectives are to sign a program with the IMF, to restore the relations with the donors and to ensure financial predictability and stability in Moldova.

For his part, the PACE co-rapporteur for Moldova expressed his readiness to cooperate and to offer Moldova the necessary assistance. “We see our cooperation only from a positive perspective and come to Chisinau every time to help you,” stated Ögmundur Jonasson. According to him, the Council of Europe attentively monitors the developments and ascertains an improvement of the situation compared with February.

The two officials underlined the importance of achieving the objectives set in accordance with the highest international standards, including by close cooperation between Moldova and the Council of Europe.
