Representatives of the Party “We Build Europe at Home” (PACE) called upon the political parties to renounce the allocations offered to them from the state budget and to redirect this money for purchasing bread for persons in need. PACE is the first party ready to renounce these allowances, but asks for guarantees from the authorities that the money to be spent namely on bread.
In a news conference at IPN, Nadejda Tatarchuk, secretary general of the party, said that in time, PACE proposed a series of initiatives for the people, including the distribution of food products for families in need. There was worked out an anti-crisis plan, but the government preferred not to do anything for the population. To distract attention from the existing problems, the government denigrates other parties. Recently, on the abusive instruction of the government, the accounts of the Party “We Build Europe at Home” were blocked so as to hamper its activity,” said the party’s secretary general.
PACE vice president Natalia Guzun said that many older persons, families with many children can hardly gather money for bread. “Recently, PACE launched a campaign to distribute bread free of charge in the districts of Hâncești, Sângerei, Drochia and Otaci. We distributed about 4,000 loafs of bread to persons in need. We gathered donations from PACE supporters and bought bread and transmitted this in an organized way to all those who asked. We organized ourselves swiftly, but a lot of impediments were created here by blocking accounts, by banning the holding of activities in some of the localities, etc. I want to tell you that society is fully disappointed with the way things develop. There were enormous expectations in society,” said the PACE vice president.
PACE first vice president Denis Roșca said it is wise for the parties to renounce the money earmarked in the budget so that bread could be bought with it. “42 million lei is equal to 14 million loafs of breads. We can choose between saving the pensioners during a hard period or between maintaining parties. If the parties do not renounce, they confirm they are interested in having a group involved in politics and do not represent those who voted for them,” stated Denis Roșca.
He also said that the authorities should work out a transparent mechanism by which the money intended for parties is used to purchase bread for the people in need.
