PACE autumn session opens on October 1

The report on the fulfilment of Moldova’s obligations and commitments to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will be heard in Strasbourg on October 2. The Moldovan delegation will be in France for the period of the PACE’s autumn session that starts on October 1 and ends on October 5. According to the Parliament’s press service, in Strasbourg the Moldovan Speaker Marian Lupu will meet the Council of Europe Secretary General Terry Davis, the PACE President Rene van der Linden, the rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Commission Josette Durrieu and Egidijus Vareikis, the Parliamentary Assembly Secretary General Mateo Sorinas, the President of the Chamber of Regions of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities (CLRA) Yavuz Mildon, the member of the CLRA Chamber of Local Authorities and rapporteur for Moldova Pascal Mangin, the CLRA Secretary General Ulrich Bohner. The agenda of the PACE’s autumn session includes discussions on the functionality of the European Court of Human Rights and CE member states’ duty to cooperate with the Court, the International Organization for Migration’s activities, election of ECHR judges, decriminalization, defamation etc. The Moldovan delegation is also composed of the vice president of the Parliament and head of the national delegation to PACE Maria Postoico and MPs Arcadii Pasecinic, Vlad Cubreacov and Valeriu Cosarciuc. Speaker Marian Lupu will return to Chisinau in the evening of October 3.
