The owners of lots who will allow ragweed to grow on their lots will be penalized, the mayor of Chisinau municipality Ion Ceban reiterated in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services. He warned that there are education institutions Chisinau on whose lots there are plants of ambrosia that pose a threat to the allergic persons, IPN reports.
Ion Ceban asked the administration of the municipal enterprise Green Areas Association to discuss this subject with mayors of the suburban localities of Chisinau where there are Ambrosia fields.
Green Areas Association director Sergey Carp said the ragweed in the capital city is destroyed with herbicides. An area of 1.6 hectares has been treated with such herbicide in the recent past.
Deputy mayor of Chisinau Ilie Ceban said that warnings about Ambrosia have been included in bills starting with May.
The ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) causes symptoms like stuffy or runny nose, sneezing, and itchy eyes. It can also trigger asthma flares. People who have ragweed allergies are reacting to its pollen.During ragweed season, one plant can release a billion grains of it into the air.
