The owners of motor vehicles with foreign registration numbers will be able to clear these with a 70% reduction. It goes to cars older than seven on the day the import duties are paid, which travel in Moldova, but are registered in another state or on the left side of the Nistru. The MPs gave a final reading to a bill to amend a number of relevant legal acts, IPN reports.
PAS MP Ion Groza, one of the sponsors of the legislative initiative, said that the excise duty imposed now on vehicles with such a status is exaggerated. It depends on the capacity of the vehicle’s engine.
The bill also refers to vehicles that were destroyed or sold as parts, which is confirmed by justificatory documents or the own responsibility statement of the person. This way, the vehicles that were taken into Moldova before January 1, 2023, but no longer exist, at the request of the person who brought the vehicle into Moldova will be excluded from the information system of the Customs Service, after the import duty of 15,000 lei is paid.
The authors argued that the new Customs Code takes effect on January 1, 2024 and this limits the stay of foreign-plated units of transport in Moldova to 180 days during a year. Currently, in Moldova there are about 180,000 units of transport that were placed under temporary admission customs regime.
