Owners of animals who do not collect excrements risk fines of up to 1,500 lei

The pet owners who will not collect the feces left by the animals in public places in Chisinau will be fined 1,200 to 1,500 lei. Informative boards will be set up at entrances to parks, in squares and on alleys. This is provided in the regulations concerning the keeping of animals with and without owners in the municipality of Chisinau, which were approved by the Municipal Council recently, IPN reports.

Under the draft decision, the mayor will designate employees of the Animal Control and Protection Section of the General Public Amenities Division to monitor the situation as ascertaining agents. The General Finance Division will ensure the allocation of financial resources for finishing the Register of Animals with and without Owners.

The General Public Amenities Division undertakes to inspect parking lots, building sites, pets markets, shelters for stray dogs and business entities in Chisinau so as to see how the regulations are obeyed. Inspections will be carried out according to a timetable agreed with the expert commission of the Chisinau Municipal Council. The Division will quarterly report to the expert commission on the work done by the Animal Control and Protection Section.
