The parents will get back the extra amounts paid for meals at kindergartens in Tiraspol last year. The bills now contain an additional section entitled “refunding of excess”, where it is indicated the sum paid back monthly. This is deducted from the payment calculated for the month for which the bill is issued, IPN reports.

The new Transnistrian administration reacted to the problem to which parents and members of the city council drew attention and repeatedly called on the municipal authorities to take measures as the prices of meals in kindergartens are exaggerated.

As a result of inspections, it was established that the price of a child’s lunch indicated in the bill was increased by 5 Transnistrian rubles ($044) on average. Together with the price of breakfast and afternoon snack and with dinner in some of the kindergarten, the costs almost doubled in 2016.

After the new Transnistrian administration was elected, the reports were verified and the prices of meals were reviewed down. Furthermore, the local authorities of Tiraspol pledged to refund the overpaid amounts in the course of this year. The announcement was made by the head of the Tiraspol city council Albina Ivanov in a meeting with parents.

The refund to families whose children went to school in 2016 will be transferred to personal current accounts.
