The police in Ocnița seized more than US$130,000, almost €40,000, £4,000 and 1,000 Ukrainian hryvnias in a case of drugs smuggled from Ukraine into Moldova, IPN reports.
The police carried out searches at the homes of five persons following suspicions that these trafficked in drugs. As a result of searches, there were seized marijuana, amphetamine and PVP drugs, devices for taking drugs, memory cards with data used to commit the offences and sums of money that were allegedly earned from selling drugs.
A man was detained and is to be remanded in custody. Another suspect, who allegedly played the role of organizer, was arrested by the Ukrainian authorities.
