More than US$148 million was transferred to private individuals in Moldova from abroad through licensed banks this July. The figure is by 29.5% compared with last July. Slightly over 45% of the money was transferred from EU member states, 16.4%, from the CIS, whereas 38.3% from the rest of the world, IPN reports.
According to the National Bank of Moldova, transfers from the EU in favor of private individuals this July came to US$67.41 million. After the UK withdrew from the EU, the July transfers from the EU were by US$11.24 million smaller than in the same period last year. Without the transfers from the UK, the rise is of 47.9%.
Transfers from Israel represented 18.7% of the total (US$27.81m), an increase of 41.5% compared with July 2019. Those from Russia constituted 15.1% of the total (US$22.40m), down 14.6%, those from Italy 14.5% (US$21.54m), from Germany – 9.4% (US$13.94m), from the UK – 7.6% (US$11.24m), etc.
Transfers in euros represented 62.4%, up 8.8 percentage points on last July, in U.S. dollars – 36.2%, down 5.6 percentage points, in Russian rubles – 1.4%, down 3.2 percentage points.
In January-July, bank transfers from abroad to Moldovans totaled US$794.95 million.
