Over half of population considers that things in Moldova go in the wrong direction

Over 56% of the population believes that the things in Moldova go in the wrong direction, while 31.5% consider the opposite, shows the Public Opinion Barometer (POB) presented on November 28. The number of those that consider that the direction is wrong is lower than in the POB made public this May (about 59%), but larger than a year ago (53%). At the same time, the number of those that several months ago said that the direction is right increased compared with the May POB (27.6%), but decreased compared with a year ago (35.7%). Some 86% of the population is dissatisfied with the salary policy implemented by the authorities, while over 82% with the policy on workplaces. Over half of the respondents said they are discontented with the economic situation in Moldova to a certain extent and only 11% said they are contented. About one third said they are neither contented nor discontented. Most of those questioned said that to improve the social-economic situation in Moldova, the laws should be enforced. Some 37% of the respondents consider that the economic situation in Moldova is worse than last year. About 30% of those polled said that the economic situation in the country remained unchanged compared with a year ago and will not change the next year too. Almost the same percentage of respondents believes that the situation is better that in 2006, but it will be better in 2008. On the other hand, about one fourth of those questioned said they are pessimistic about this.
