The state register of vehicle drivers shows that there were 972 553 authorized drivers in Moldova on January 1, 2018, with 217 710 of these being women, IPN reports.
According to the data presented by the Public Services Agency on its website, 505 000 drivers, 204 000 of whom women, have permits of only category B and can drive exclusively vehicles with not more than eight seats and weighing at most 3 500 kg.
Most of the other motorists can drive two of more types of transport. A number of 114 persons possess permits for driving nine categories of vehicles.
Ten drivers have a permit of category D only, for vehicles with more than eight seats. As many as 544 persons have permits of category F only, for trolleybuses. Of these, 131 are women. A number of 2 036 persons can drive only motorcycles with or without sidecars, while 1 128 persons can drive only motor vehicles weighing more than 3 500 kg and with at most eight seats, which is they possess a permit of category C.
More than 74,000 drivers own permits of categories A, B and C, 24,000 of categories A, B, C, D and E, while over 5,000 of categories A, B, C and D.
