More than 900 minors ran away from home or went missing in January-September this year, while 460 children were involved in the commission of offenses. The data were presented in a news conference held at the Ministry of Home Affairs, IPN reports.
According to the head of the General Police Inspectorate Viorel Cernăuțeanu, the number of offenses committed by minors decreased by 85 cases on last year. Children became victims of offenses in 712 cases, up 55 cases on 2021.
Among the main reasons for which the children run way from home are the lack of parental supervision, the precarious financial situation of the family, conflicts in the family or after the parents go abroad to work, says a press release issued by the General Police Inspectorate.
In another development, Viorel Cernăuțeanu said that over 4,757 persons were caught driving under the influence of alcohol. In the case of 3,380 drivers, the state of inebriation was heavy.
Alexandru Oprea, head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, said that 602 persons, 172 of whom were children, were saved in emergencies and exceptional situations so far this year. “Despite the high number of operations performed this year, owing to the optimization of procedures the Inspectorate managed to reduce the emergency response time,” stated Alexandru Oprea.
