More than 800 members of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) from Falesti district, including five district councilors and five mayors, joined the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM). In a news conference on July 28, Falesti district head Nina Botezatu said they took such a decision after analyzing the mistakes committed by the PSD in the April 5, 2009 elections, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The decision wasn't taken overnight, but on March 10 this year. Before leaving the PSD, we analyzed the performance of all the political parties and decided to join the PLDM, whose objectives coincide with ours,” Nina Botezatu said. She also said that before reaching the decision, they consulted the people as well. The former members of the PSD will become active members of the PLDM on August 15.
