Over 80% of funds provided by Romania for renovating nurseries used

Some 82% of the funds allocated by the Government of Romania for reconstructing and renovating preschool education institutions in Moldova have been put to good use. A progress report on the utilization of the €20 million worth of grant provided by the Romanian government was presented on November 18. The technical and financial assistance project has been implemented through the Moldova Social Investment Fund, IPN reports.

Attending the event, Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Marius Lazurca said that Romania wants all the funds provided to the Republic of Moldova for fostering development to be so efficiently used. “We expect that in 2016, the funds intended for this project will be fully used so that we could pass to the next stage within which new nurseries will be renovated with the money offered by Romania,” stated the diplomat.

Moldova Social Investment Fund executive director Mircea Esanu said that 82% of the funds provided by the Government of Romania have been used successfully and expressed his conviction that the good practice and correct management will make this project to continue.

Among the beneficiaries of the grant provided by the Government of Romania are 774 nursery schools from 32 districts of Moldova and over 200,000 children, parents and teaching and ancillary staff. The works at 660 nurseries have been completed.

The works financed from the grant provided by the Government of Romania include the replacement of the roof, heating systems, wiring, windows and doors, laying out of playgrounds, thermal insulation of external walls, construction of water supply and sewerage systems, outfitting with equipment and furniture, etc.
