More than 73,000 apartments in the municipality of Chisinau have debts larger than 1,000 lei for the heat consumed the previous heating season, IPN has learned from the heat utility SA Termocom.

Over 34,000 apartments have debts of 1,000 to 3,000 lei, almost 17,000 apartments – of 3,000 to 5,000 lei, over 8,000 apartments – of 5,000 to 7,000 lei, while more than 14,000 apartments – of over 7,000 lei.

By the form of ownership, most of the over 73,000 apartments with debts of over 1,000 lei are administered by municipal housing stock managing companies – over 34,000 apartments. About 23,000 apartments are managed by private house owners associations, while 9,800 apartments by homebuilding cooperatives. A number of 1,588 departmental houses and 86 apartment owners with direct contracts also have debts of over 1,000 lei for heat.

Termocom insistently asks the housing stock managers and the apartment owners with debts to settle them as soon as possible so as to avoid incurring additional costs when being sued and having their property sequestrated.
