More than 72,000 applications for being paid compensations for trips by public units of transport have been approved by the competent Chisinau bodies so far, Info-Prim Neo reports. Eugenia Ciobanu, the head of the Social Assistance Division, said that about 72,300 applications have been approved to date. A part of the money needed to pay combinations was transferred from the Chisinau budget to post offices. 5 million lei more will be transferred this week According to Eugenia Ciobanu, about 44,000 applications were submitted by pensioners, while 13,000 by invalids. Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca asked assessing the situation created after the introduction of nominative compensations for trips by public transport so as to determine the number of recipients as he is convinced that this number is higher than that of persons who traveled earlier free of charge. Approximately 116,000 residents of Chisinau forming part of different social groups traveled by public means of transport free of charge earlier.
