Over 7,000 children took part in Children’s High Level Group Community Action
More than 7,000 children from schools and residential institutions have been engaged in the Children’s High Level Group Community Action programme during October-December 2007, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Group’s progress report, cited by the Government’s press service, about 3,000 students from 56 Moldovan secondary schools and approximately 4,000 children from residential institutions voluntarily took part in the activities launched at the middle of October. The children participated in cultural events – concerts, exhibitions, festivities etc.
The project aims to directly involve the children in public care in community actions and in a broad communication process designed to facilitate their social integration.
Children’s High Level Group for Moldova was founded in 2006 under the protocol of cooperation in child welfare, health and education signed by Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev and MEP Baroness Emma Nicholson Winterbourne, who is Vice President of the European Parliament's Committee for Foreign Affairs.
