Over 7,000 children annually rest at camps of National Trade Union Confederation

More than 7,000 children, 3,000 of whom receive financing from the state budget, annually rest at the three recuperation institutions for children managed by the National Trade Union Confederation. A day of rest there costs 175 lei per child.

The Confederation manages the camps “Campingul” and “Perlele Nistrului” in Vadul lui Voda town and “Dumbrava Alba” in Balti municipality. About 20 million lei has been invested in the modernization of the camps in Vadul lui Voda during the past five years.

In a response to an inquiry made by IPN News Agency, the Confederation’s chairman Oleg Budza said the recuperation institutions for children in Vadul lui Voda do not generate profit. These work for only three months a year, during June –August, but maintenance costs are covered throughout the year. Besides, the Vadul lui Voda mayor’s office sued the National Trade Union Confederation so that they pay 3.2 million lei for using the land adjoining the camps.

The Confederation also manages three sanatoriums: “Nufarul Alb” in Cahul; Codru Health Resort in Harjauca, Calarasi, and Bucuria-Sind Health Resort in Vadul lui Voda. Over 23,000 citizens improve their health at the three sanatoriums annually.
