More than 700 drivers were fined a total of over 458,000 lei as a result of police raids on September 28. These were fined mainly for speeding, violation of the rules of using the motor vehicles and driving under the influence, IPN reports.

According to the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service of the Ministry of the Interior, among those fined were public functionaries with a special status, former police officers, employees of the Customs Service, a former employee of the Special Destination Brigade “Fulger” and a bailiff.

Three drivers, one of whom was an Italian citizen, were charged with active corruption. The three offered the patrol inspectors money for not being fined for speeding.
