More than 70 trucks have formed lines at the Otaci customs posts during several hours. Contacted by IPN, Cristina Rau, press officer of the Customs Service, said the customs post works at full capacity and even increased the number of inspectors, but the infrastructure does not enable to accelerate the border crossing procedure. 

The Otaci customs post has only three lanes and only one of these is intended for truck. The outgoing traffic has increased considerably during the last few days. As by five trucks on average can be checked during an hour, lines appear.

Cristina Rau said the standards and procedures cannot be ignored. The drivers must realize that the customs post works at full capacity and the Customs Service recommends these to use other border crossing points. Before setting out, the motorists should inform themselves about the state of traffic at all the customs posts through the application “traffic-online” that is available on the Customs Service’s website.
