During one hour of the opening of polling places, more than 67,000 people have cast their ballots. This is 2.3% of the voters, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has said, quoted by IPN.
CEC president Alina Russu told the journalists that all the 1,981 polling places in the country were opened without incidents. All the conditions were created for the people to be able to vote.
About 52% of those who voted were men. Almost 37% were aged between 56 and 67, while nearly 7% were aged between 18 and 25.
In some of the polling places abroad, the voting process is underway, while in others will start in accordance with the local hour.
A number of 2,081 polling places were established for the presidential elections. Of these, 100 were set up outside the country’s borders. The polling stations work between 7am and 9pm.
