More than 6,000 employees of the Ministry of the Interior will maintain public order all over the country during the Easter holidays. Teams of police officers will monitor the situation at the over 1,300 churches, while the new National Common Emergency Phone Service 112 will work according to an alert regime, Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan stated in a press briefing on April 5, IPN reports.
“We will engage enough forces to maintain public order during the Easter holidays. Over 6,000 employees of the Ministry of the Interior will be involved in such activities. If need be, we will increase the number of employees on duty. We will also have a platoon of bicyclists on duty in Chisinau,” said minister.
The Border Police said they are ready to cope with the increased flow of travellers. “To fluidize traffic, maintain the regime and inform the travellers, the employees on leave were called back for the period of the Easter holidays and the personnel from the institution’s head office will also work at border crossing points,” said the Border Police chief Fredolin Lecari.
The administration of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies called on the population to obey the fire safety rules, not to block the access to churches, to give up burning tires as a tradition and to avoid getting onto units of transport with burning candles.
