A new record high of cases of COVID-19 was hit in Moldova on January 26 - 6,199 new cases, with 726 of these being logged in the Transnistrian region. The figure is by 1,000 higher than a day before, IPN reports.
Of all the cases, 54 are associated with contact outside the country, being brought primarily from Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Italy, Germany, and Belgium.
Out of the over 2,400 persons with COVID-19 who are now hospitalized, 198 are in a very serious state and 32 of them were put on a ventilator. Over 1,600 infected persons were cured. A total of 374,800 persons have been cured so far.
More than 18,900 persons with mild and moderate forms of COVID-19 are receiving treatment at home, while 25,300 are under supervision at home.
The same day, there were reported 18 deaths from COVID-19, three of which in the Transnistrian region. An 18-year-old teen from Orhei town, who suffered from cerebral palsy, spastic tetraplegia and severe psychomotor retardation, also succumbed to the disease.
Moldova by now has got 423,500 cases of COVID-19, over 403 of which among health workers.
