A section of the road that bypasses the municipality of Chisinau, 0 – 6.55 km, will start to be repaired at the beginning of summer. The contract to the value of €9.9 million, which is lent by the European Investment Bank, was signed by the State Road Administration and the consortium of companies that won the international tender contest (Rutador SRL – Lusmecon SA), IPN reports.
The road section starts from the bridge situated in Ialoveni. The roadway will be extended and multiple-level crossings will be built. 4 km of road will be repaired, while another 2 km will be built from zero. The belt road will have four lanes, by two lanes in each direction. The rehabilitation works will include road markings.
According to Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Kiril Gaburici, the road section that will be rehabilitated forms part of a road of strategic importance for Moldova. It establishes a connection with Romania, which is Moldova’s strategic partner. The works will last for two years. The contract was signed for the second time as the first contact signed in 2014 was terminated owing to corruption between the old contractor and the old administration of the Ministry.
State Road Administration director Gheorghe Curmei said the consortium of companies Rutador SRL and Lusmecon SA was chosen because this submitted the lowest bid. The guarantee and defect notification period is of a year of the receipt of the final works. The current state of the road is disastrous and endangers the life of the participants in traffic.
Rutador SRL director general Nicolae Maliu said his team is ready to start the works that will involve about 300 workers and more than 150 pieces of equipment.
The road that bypasses the municipality of Chisinau is almost 90 km long. It will be is use, except for the section that will be under repair.
