57.42% of the people with the right to vote in Moldova participated in the April 5 legislative elections. The information was provided by the Central Election Commission (CEC) at about 22.00, Info-Prim Neo reports. The turnout of voters in Chisinau was 58.45%. In all the districts of the country, the turnout was over 50% plus 1 vote required to validate the elections. The turnout in Basarabeasca district was the highest in the country – over 81% of the persons with the right to vote. The lowest turnout was reported in the municipality of Balti and in the districts of Glodeni and Falesti – slightly over 50%. The data cover 80% of the polling places set up in the country. The exact voter turnout figures will be known in about an hour. At around 23.00, the CEC will make public the preliminary information about the election outcome. The votes are now being counted in all the stations. CEC secretary Iurie Ciocan said that the exit poll results are data for curious persons and cannot be commented on.
