Over 50,000 volumes from Romanian publishers will arrive in the Moldovan capital for this year’s edition of the International Book Fair “Chisinau Bookfest”, to take place during August 30—September 3.
“Chisinau will thus become the capital of the Romanian written culture”, the Publishers’ Association of Romania wrote in a press release.
“Chisinau Bookfest showcases our common cultural heritage, in particular the linguistic and emotional one”, said Liliana Turoiu, the president of the Romanian Culture Institute, the event’s main donor.
The reading public in Chisinau will be able to find at Bookfest the newest books and publications at promotional prices. Children are a particular target group of this year’s fair, as most stands will feature books for pupils on special discounts, which comes in handy given the start of the school year on September 1.
The event is organized by the Moldovan Ministry of Culture, Education and Research, the Romanian Culture Institute, the Institute for Romanians Everywhere “Eudoxiu Hurmuzachi”, the National Library of Moldova, the Publishers’ Union of Moldova, and the Publishers’ Association of Romania.
