More than 50,000 evergreens will be offered for sale before the winter holidays this year. The felling of trees at the entities of “Moldsilva” Agency started. Under the decision taken by the Agency’s board of directors, the prices this year will be by 20% lower than last year.
Contacted by IPN for details, “Moldsilva” Agency Dumitru Cojocaru said the trees will be cut down in stages, depending on the demand. The last evergreens will be put on sale on December 29-30. Those who want can purchase trees directly from nurseries so as to be sure that they benefit from the approved reduction and do not pay the markup.
At nurseries, the price last year was 36 lei/meter per evergreen. Therefore, this year the price will be by 7-8 lei lower. “Moldsilva” Agency will have its own selling points in large towns.
Dumitru Cojocaru also said that inspections will be stepped up this year so as to avoid illicit felling. Mobile teams will monitor the situation. The private individuals caught felling evergreen trees face a fine of up to 1,200 lei, while the legal entities – of up to 10,000 lei.
