Over 500 unnecessary calls recorded by ambulance crews last week

Over 17 thousand callers, including more than 3 thousand children, were treated by ambulance crews last week. Over 500 of all recorded calls were unnecessary requests. The most frequent requests were for respiratory ailments, cardiovascular emergencies and neurological pathologies, IPN reports, referring to a CNAMUP press release.

According to CNAMUP, after medical aid was provided at the pre-hospital stage, 6.6 thousand patients, including 1.6 thousand children, were transported to hospitals across the country.

The most frequent ambulance intervention was requested for patients with respiratory diseases, including acute viral respiratory diseases, followed by cardiovascular emergencies, including acute coronary syndrome, neurological pathologies, including strokes, and traumatologic emergencies.

More than 60 people sought help for emergencies caused by physical, chemical and environmental agents, including burns, animal bites/insect bites, hypothermia and frostbite. At the same time, there were over 50 calls for poisoning, including medical, carbon monoxide and alcohol poisoning.

During the week, emergency medical services intervened in around 40 road accidents involving just over 60 victims. After emergency pre-hospital care, 40 patients, including 6 children, were transported to hospitals for further treatment.
