The Civil Protection and Emergency Service (SPCSE) will work according to a special schedule during the winter holidays and will have 500 employees ready to intervene in situations of risk, IPN reports.
According to a press release of the Service, the search and rescue division and the SMURD squads will work in order to prevent and eliminate the consequences of emergency situations. Additionally, the SPCSE launched the awareness campaign “Don't let fires ruin your holidays” in anticipation of the Christmas Eve and the New Year's Eve. SPCSE employees have evaluated fire risks at the places where mass gatherings traditionally happen and in recreation institutions such as clubs, bars, restaurants and so on. The responsible staff members have been trained to respect fire prevention rules and how to act if fires occur.
According to SPCSE data, 1849 fires broke out in 2014, killing 121 people. Most of them have been cause by imprudence during smoking and the violation of anti-fire regulation and norm when using heating stoves.
In case of fires or other emergencies, people are reminded to call 901.
