Over 50 performances of music at “Martsishor – 2020”

The 54th International Music Festival “Martsishor” consists of 53 performances of music that will involve the most famous artistic groups from Moldova and outside it. The event starts at the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac” on March 1, IPN reports.

Minister of Education, Culture and Research Corneliu Popovici told a news conference that 28 concerts will be staged this year in different districts of the country. Two concerts will be held in Tiraspol town of the Transnistrian region. This year’s edition includes the anniversary concerts of the most representative national artistic bands, namely the Academic Choir “Doina”, the Folk Songs and Dances Ensemble “Fluieraș”, the National Academic Folk Dances Ensemble “Joc” and the National Folk Music Orchestra “Lăutarii”. The performances will feature artists and bands from Belgium, Portugal, Ireland, Argentina, Montenegro, Russia, and Romania.

Svetlana Bivol, director of the National Philharmonic “Sergei Lunkevich”, said seven events will be hosted by the Philharmonic and 11 will take place in districts. The March 2 concert entitled “Promenade aerofone” will involve soloists from Italy and of the Philharmonic. The program will continue with a chamber concert by Primus Duo. On March 3, there will be given a tango concert with conductor and composer Martin Palmeri from Argentina.

The Organ Hall in Chisinau this year prepared six concerts that start on February 29. According to Larisa Zubcu, director general of the Organ Hall, the festival is opened by the Belgian Trio “Montagnana”. On March 2, there will be held a vocal symphonic concert that will be directed by Romanian conductor Gheorghe Costin. The next day, Marek Stefanski from Poland will give an organ recital. Afterward, Montenegro Guitar Duo will hold a guitar recital. On March 9, mezzosoprano Diana Axentii will give a French music recital.

“Moldova-Concert” director Alexandru Locoman noted that the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac” on March 1 will host a musical-choreographic performance, while on March 2, Alex Calancea Band will give a concert that will involve the Osoianu sisters and master Nicolae Botgros. On March 3, an Irish band will present a choreographic performance. Folk music soloists will give a concert the next day. The performance on March 5 will feature the Orchestra “Lăutarii” and the Symphonic Orchestra of Teleradio Moldova. The concert of March 6 will involve Russian singer Stas Mihailov, while that of March 7 Romanian singer Fuego. Inna will perform on March 8. The festival ends on March 10 with a performance by the Dances Ensemble “Fluieraș”.

The costs associated with the organization of the International Music Festival “Martsishor” this year total 2.6 million lei.
