More than 50% of the respondents of an opinion poll said they do not want the billboards to be removed from the streets of Chisinau. Some 58% of those questioned said the visual advertisements help to take a decision as to the choice of a product. The data are contained in a poll carried out by the company “Intellect Grup” in Chisinau at the request of an advertising company, IPN reports.
The survey shows that 58% of the respondents consider the visual publicity in the municipality of Chisinau is useful, 20% believe it is useless, while 22% didn’t answer the question. About 46% of those polled consider the work done by the municipal public authorities to develop the urban environment and visual publicity is nonprofessional and incompetent. 52% of those surveyed believe the mayor of Chisinau cannot improve the situation concerning visual publicity.
The advertising company’s director Sandu Osadchenko told a news conference that the street publicity industry has been on the alert for three months after the mayor of Chisinau decided to take away the billboards from the streets of the city. The out-of-home advertising networks must be improved, not yet removed. “We have a program to change all the street advertising networks in Chisinau. We also drafted regulations that can bring things in order. These specify who can and who cannot place advertisements in Chisinau,” he stated.
According to him, a high number of people work in the advertising industry and all the aspects should be taken into account when deciding the fate of the billboards. “A complex problem needs a complex solution,” said Sandu Osadchenko, noting that the poll was conducted in the municipality of Chisinau on April 4-18 and covered a sample of 94 persons.
Earlier, the Association of Adverting Agencies announced the mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca ordered that the billboards located near the rotaries and roadway on the boulevards Dacia and Calea Orheiului should be removed until June 1. At end-March, the head of Centru district of Chisinau said the billboards situated on Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd. must also be taken away because the street will be under repair.
