Over 50 carriers deprived of ECMT authorizations
The Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime withdrew the ECMT authorizations for 100 trucks that do not meet the European car exhaust emission standards. The anti-corruption officers suspect the carriers paid €1,000 to €2,000 besides the state tax to get forged authorizations, Info-Prim Neo reports.
As a result of investigations, it was established that over 50 companies falsified the data about the technical characteristics of the trucks, obtaining forged pollution certificates.
The authorizations were issued by the National Road Transport Agency of the Ministry of Transport and Road Management. They allow the carriers to use 100 trucks in international freight transport.
It was determined that the trucks meet the pollution category Euro 3 not Euro 4, as required by the international standards. Allegedly, the authorizations were falsified with the help of experts of companies that represent truck factories in Moldova.
Moldova is a member of the European Conference of Ministers of Transport (ECMT), which yearly distributes quotas of multilateral authorizations allowing transporting goods on the territory of the EU and the Conference's member states.
