Over 46% of remittances received by Moldovans come from EU countries

Over 46% of the money transferred from abroad to individuals in the Republic of Moldova in September comes from the European Union countries. According to a statement of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), 22% of remittances received by natural persons were transferred from the CIS countries, while 31.6% from other states, IPN reports.

Of European Union member countries, the Moldovans received the highest remittances from Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom. Also, according to the BNM, the transfers from Israel are worth mentioning, constituting 18.4% of the total amount received from abroad by Moldovan individuals.

In all, in September 2019, through licensed banks from abroad were transferred to individuals financial means of US $ 100.45 million net value, up by 2.9% as compared to September 2018.

According to the National Bank of Moldova, during the period of January - September 2019, the total volume of bank transfers from abroad to individuals from the Republic of Moldova amounted to US $ 903.33 million, 5.5% less than in the same period of the previous year.
