Over 450 places remain unfilled at universities

More than 450 places at universities remained unfilled after the repeated admission session. The State University of Moldova and the Balti University “Alecu Russo” reported most of the vacancies, IPN reports.

According to Deputy Minister of Education Loretta Handrabura, 79% of the about 20,000 places provided for 2013 have been filled, as opposed to 96% in 2012. “The admission results show an increased interest of the candidates in particular universities with traditions and in certain specialists owing to the quality of the professional formation,” she stated.

In the 2013 admission session, the state universities proposed 16,800 places, 6,700 of which are budget-funded places and over 10,000 places are on a contract basis. The private universities’ admission plan of 3,500 places was 70.3% fulfilled.

The additional admission session at the Academy of Music, Theater and Plastic Arts will take place between August 28 and September 9.
