Over 400 taxpayers have incomes of 500,000 to over 1 million lei
More than 400 taxpayers have submitted statements concerning the incomes available on January 1, 2012 to the State Main Tax Inspectorate since September, when the Tax Code amendments regarding the indirect sources and methods for assessing the taxable incomes of private individuals took effect, Gheorghe Cojocaru, deputy head of the Tax Inspectorate, said in an interview for Radio Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
As many as 50 persons confirmed by extracts from bank accounts that their incomes disposable on January 1, 2012 totaled more than 1 million lei. 350 persons declared incomes of 500,000 to 1,000,000 lei. The declared amounts will be taxed when private individuals’ incomes earned this year are assessed by indirect methods and sources. The statements concerning the incomes available on January 1, 2012 can be submitted by December 31, 2012. The forms are available on the website of the State Tax Service or from local tax inspectorates.
Gheorghe Cojocaru said that the indirect sources and methods for assessing the incomes will be used in relation to persons who during a fiscal year, starting with January 1, 2102, will purchase property (houses and other real estate, vehicles, shares) whose value will exceed 1 million lei cumulatively and who will have other expenses to the value of over 500,000 lei.
As to the indirect sources of informing about the costs incurred and property bought by private individuals, Gheorghe Cojocaru said that the legislation stipulates eight such sources, including the cadastre offices, banks, tourism companies, and vehicle registration offices. The information coming from neighbors or other persons will be regarded as a signal for verification.
“After December 31, 2012, which is the deadline for submitting the given income statements, the local tax inspectorates will no longer play a part in the process of using the indirect sources and methods. The related activities will be performed by a low number of employees of the relevant division of the State Inspectorate so as to avoid the leakage of information and ensure the confidentiality of data. These employees are now being instructed,” stated Gheorghe Cojocaru.
The amendments describing the mechanism for using the indirect sources and methods for assessing the taxable incomes of private individuals were published in the Official Gazette on September 14.
