The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service has announced that over 400 people, including 37 children, were taken out of snowdrifts in the course of last night. Not only rescuers, but also firemen and National Army soldiers were involved in snow removal works, IPN reports.
Given the created conditions, when sections of national and local roads are blocked, rescuers recommend the population not to leave homes, if only in emergencies. Drivers are urged to avoid travelling long distances as they can get stuck in snowdrifts.
At 10am, 240 settlements in central and southern Moldova experienced power outages.
