More than 37,000 persons paid the mandatory health insurance premium in fixed amount in the first two months of this year. The figure is by about 4,000 higher than in the corresponding period last year, IPN reports.

The National Health Insurance Company said that over 24,000 of the total number of payers benefitted from reductions of 50% of the value of the premium. These include founders of individual enterprises, lessors, lessees, patent holders and other citizens who are not employed and are not medically insured by the Government.

The number of citizens who paid the health insurance through the governmental electronic payments service MPay in January-February this year is by almost 14,000 higher than in the same period last year.

Another almost 12,000 persons who are farmland owners benefited from 75% discounts. More than 800 persons paid the insurance premium at a discount of 60% or the full value of the premium.

The mandatory health insurance premium in fixed amount this year is 4,056 lei. The reductions of 50%, 60% and 75% are valid until March 31 inclusive.

The mandatory health insurance premium for salary earners is 9% (4.5% paid by the employer and 4.5% paid by the employee).
