Since the beginning of the year, the police have registered about 200 crimes and over 370 infractions related to domestic violence. The victims include 328 women, two children and 13 men. As a result of proceedings, 364 men and 10 women were sanctioned.

The most frequently reported form of domestic violence is physical violence against female partners, but also against children, IPN reports.

The General Inspectorate of Police notes that an effective intervention measure is the application of the emergency restraining order, which involves the immediate removal of the aggressor from the family, constituting a temporary measure to protect the victim of domestic violence. During the first three months of this year, courts issued 206 protection orders. 76 of them were violated by the aggressors, which led to the initiation of criminal cases.
 
For the immediate removal of aggressors from the family, as well as to prevent the recurrence of acts of violence, the police issued 1,346 emergency restraining orders.

The police encourage members of the public to call 112 whenever they experience, witness or suspect a case of domestic violence.
