More than 3,500 cases of acute upper respiratory tract infections have been registered until January 5, most of them in children. The data indicate a decrease of over 18 percent compared to the previous week and a decrease of over 50 percent compared to the similar period of the previous season, IPN reports.
The National Public Health Agency said that 65 cases of seasonal flu were registered the past week. Most of the cases were recorded in the municipality of Chisinau. The most affected were children aged 0 to 4 years (29 cases) and 5 to 14 years (19 cases).
Also, seven cases of COVID-19 were registered the past week, a decrease of 58.8% compared to the previous week. Among children up to 14 years old, three cases were reported.
Specialists reiterate the importance of observing personal hygiene rules and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, which includes a diet rich in vegetables and fruits, adequate rest and regular physical exercise.
"These measures, combined with vaccination, provide the best protection against influenza and other respiratory infections," reads a press release issued by the National Public Health Agency.
