Over 3,500 police officers will be on duty on Christmas

More than 3,500 police officers will supervise road traffic and maintain public order starting with the evening of January 6 until January 10. They will monitor the situation on national roads, near recreational facilities, in markets and in all the crowded areas, IPN reports.

In a press briefing, Daniel Mazepa, head of the Delinquency Prevention Division of the National Public Security Inspectorate, warned the population not to leave their homes unsupervised, primarily in towns. If they leave home, they should ask reliable persons to watch over.

Daniel Mazepa called on the parents to supervise the children. If they allow them to go caroling, they should know who accompanies the children, with who these interact and to what homes they go.

He warned that pyrotechnics should be bought only from authorized shops and should be set off only by adults. The arm owners are warned not to use them for salutes as this is illegal and they face punishment in the form of deprivation of the right to keep and bear arms and even jail.

The recreation places will continue to be closed at 10pm. The private individuals and legal entities that violate this norm are liable to punishment.

During December 25 – January 3, over 2,500 police officers supervised road traffic and maintained public order. Four murders and two murder attempts were reported in the period.
