More than 350 observers of the ODIHR Mission are monitoring the voting process at polling places in Moldova, IPN reports.
The Mission’s head Matyas Eorsi told the press that the Mission came to Moldova on January 15. It is a team of 28 long-term observers who cover 14 regions. “There are 357 observers all over the country today. We consider these elections are very important and tomorrow the situation concerning the conduct of elections will be clearer,” stated Matyas Eorsi.
According to him, the Mission’s observers will monitor the voting process at different polling places. They will also observe the vote count process. The observers will try to cover as many polling places as possible.
Asked about eventual signals about the organized transportation of voters from the left side of the Nistru, Matyas Eorsi said there is information from a number of sources, but it is too early to pronounce or formulate conclusions. The observers will examine all the reports on the election day and will provide details about challenges and if these influenced somehow the election outcome tomorrow, February 25.
The official said the Mission has overseen the parliamentary elections and the presidential elections in Moldova since the country declared its independence and the fact that the number of observers is higher this year shows the international community’s interest in the elections in Moldova.
