Over 30,000 pairs of shoes to be given to children in need
Orphans and children from residential institutions and socially deprived families will receive shoes for the summer-autumn season free of charge. A partnership agreement to this effect is to be signed by the Ministry of Education and the Texas-based philanthropic organization Children’s Emergency Relief International (CERI).
Violina Lavric, consultant of the Ministry of Education’s Communication and PR Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that on December 16 the Ministry’s administration had a meeting with the CERI executive director Dearing Garner, where they agreed to sign the agreement. Thus, more than 30,000 pairs of shoes will be donated to children in difficulty.
All the children from orphanages will receive shoes. The recipients from socially underprivileged families will be selected through the agency of the institutions where they study.
Last year, under a cooperation agreement with CERI, there were brought and distributed 10,000 pairs of winter shoes to children in need.
There are more than 4 800 children in Moldova’s 50 childcare residential institutions.
