More than 3,000 policemen will be on duty on New Year’s Eve. These will maintain public order in recreational places, terminals and stations and will patrol the national roads, IPN reports.
Chief of the National Patrolling Inspectorate Livii Baziuc told a news conference that the drivers must appropriately equip the vehicles for winter and must comply with the instructions of paroling inspectors who will direct traffic. Driving under the influence of alcohol is banned.
Marin Maxian, head of the General Police Inspectorate’s Public Security Division, said that when leaving home, the neighbors should be informed about this so that they call the police if they see suspect persons on the stairs or the yard of the apartment building. The vehicles should not be left unsupervised, especially at night. The owners are recommended to make sure that they left no valuable things inside the car. At night, the unlit places should be avoided, while the valuable items should not be displayed. Those who drank alcohol should stay at home.
The parents are advised to instruct the children when they remain home alone not to open the door to unknowns who say they were sent by their parents to bring them something. When going shopping or to crowded places, the children must be permanently supervised. Pyrotechnics should be bought only from authorized shops. The instructions on how to use these should be attentively read so as to avoid injury.
In case of risk situations or wrongdoings, help should be sought from the patrolling team or the closest police station or the police should be called on 902. The General Police Inspectorate insistently asks the people not to make fake calls to 902 so as not to keep the telephone line busy.
