Over 300 business people from Moldova and Russia will attend the business forum “Expanding Moldova-Russia Economic Cooperation”, which will also include the first edition of the international exhibition “ExpoRussia – Moldova 2017”. The events, to take place during October 10-12, are organized by Moldova’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with Russia’s Zarubezh-Expo.
Sergiu Harea, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, told a press conference that the two events will bring together experts from various areas, business people, and government representatives. The goal is to offer a viable platform to discuss challenges and opportunities of bilateral economic cooperation and to consolidate the partnership between the two business communities. The Forum will include four round-table events dedicated to agriculture and industry, energy, education, and medicine.
Anatoly Nikolaev, Zarubezh-Expo's international affairs director, said the events in Chisinau are very important for both business communities. About 50 companies and delegations from 13 regions of Russia confirmed their attendance. Nikolaev said the interest to cooperate is very high on the Russian side, and this explains the large diversity of the participating companies, whose business interests range from aluminum sulfate to helicopters. However, priority has been given to manufacturers of farming equipment, given Moldova’s reputation as an agricultural country.
The Russian organizers plan to return the favor by holding a “Made in Moldova” expo in Rostov next year.
