Over 30 NGOs to protest at Russian Embassy in Chisinau
The Civic Platform “Actiunea 2012”, which is a coalition consisting of about 30 nongovernmental organizations and initiative groups, announced it will stage a large-scale protest at the Russian Embassy in Chisinau on January 14, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Civic Platform “Actiunea 2012” demands punishing the Russian peacekeeper who mortally wounded from a gun the 18-year-old Vadim Pisari from Pirita on January 1 and unconditionally pulling out the Russian troops and munitions from Moldova’s territory.
“As no significant official reactions followed to the civil society’s demands, we have to mount a new protest in front of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau,” says a communiqué issued by the coalition. The protest will take place on Saturday, January 14, at 15.45 and will involve about 140 persons.
The coalition’s members point to the discrepancy between the official dialogue on the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict and the daily life of the Transnistrians, who can anytime become victims of a border that was imposed illegally and protected by guns.
The coalition warns that the loss of a human life in the Transnistrian region, which forms part of Moldova, represents more than a page in a geopolitics textbook and must be treated with seriousness and responsibility.
The Civic Platform “Actiunea 2012” supports Moldova’s union with Romania and pleads for the unification of the Romanians from the banks of the Prut River within the same state, which is the objective of past, present and future generations.
