More than 2.2 million lei is to be allocated from the Government’s Intervention Fund for demolishing the damaged apartment building in Otaci town, which partially collapsed in 2019. A decision to this effect was adopted in the meeting of the Commission for Emergencies chaired by Prime Minister Ion Chicu, IPN reports.
One year after the collapse of the block in Otaci, the investigation initiated in June 2019 continues. The investigation centers on the inappropriate execution of works that resulted in partial physical harm to the construction and considerable financial damage.
The Ocnița district prosecutor’s office obtained the preliminary expert report on the technical state of the damaged building and the technical examination report on the building that was later demolished. The conclusions show that the excessive moisture in the construction foundations and basement generated the segregation and collapse of the supporting walls of the basement. The building was erected without reinforced concrete connection belts, the block was poorly maintained and the supporting structure was modified.
